Producing fruit bearing plantings for home and farm is a
speciality of ours. We routinely grow citrus and vines, apricots and almonds. Our citrus includes navels, manderine,
tangelo, lime, blood orange, and lemons.
Even if you are visiting our Sunraysia region, you
can take a little bit of Sunraysia home in the form of fruit trees! After all, you drive right by our gate on the Calder Highway
from Mildura to Melbourne.
We also wholesale larger quantities for farmers and
other retailers. Most growers use a rootstock to enhance their production, and we have a capacity in serveral key areas, and
have suppliers for others.
We plant the rootstock cuttings or seedlings and grow
them to the point of grafting.
Grafting may be conducted using the growers best
plants as a source or from our own bud bank, or that of bud suppliers.
The whole process takes one or two years, depending
on the varieties involved, so think ahead!
We can grow the plants in soil or pots. It is often
best to supply plants bare rooted (even in the case of being grown in pots) as this reduces your transport costs dramatically,
and eliminates an operation at the farm end. Furthermore, it is a requirement for transporting out of Victoria to some states,
that the soil be washed from the roots.
The best use of pots is for wholesale supply to onsellers
and household use in Victoria.
